Our 1st & 2nd grade Raiders LOVED learning lacrosse today! Thank you Coach Mark for taking the time to teach our little Raiders this fun sport! 🥍 @SunnyvaleISD
Today we learned the function transformation rules through discovery! I LOVE hearing students have those “lightbulb” moments when they discover the math for themselves!
Students got to set class norms by discussing what respect looks like in different scenarios. I loved getting to know them by seeing things from their perspective! Looking forward to a great year with these awesome kids!
Playing Hedbanz to write transformed rational, exponential, and logarithmic equations and identify the verbal descriptions! So many great math discussions happening today!
You know you’re a math teacher when you visit the Gateway Arch and use it as an opportunity to teach your students how it’s actually NOT a parabola, but rather an inverted catenary curve.
Our next Roundtable guest! Want to learn more about how to appropriately challenge your students to keep them THINKING throughout a lesson? Come hear about the Art of Thin Slicing from @pgliljedahl, author of Building Thinking Classrooms.

Students working together today to piece together their knowledge of simplifying radicals, imaginary numbers, and solving equations to solve quadratic equations by completing the square.
Students analyzing their own mathematical writing responses! I think they’re finally realizing my answer will always be yes when they ask if they *have* to explain, justify, compare and contrast, etc. 🤣
This week I had the privilege of experiencing a BTC conference with @pgliljedahl@Region10ESC. It was by far the most useful PD I’ve ever attended. Started using BTC this week and I’m blown away by the critical thinking I’m witnessing from students! So proud of them!
I LOVE game days because the student engagement is unmatched! Today we reviewed multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting rational expressions. @Sunnyvale_HS
