5th graders participated in a philosophical chairs today discussing the central statement: Does Earth Day really make a difference? #AVIDatMESI

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

AVID 8th graders came to talk to our 5th graders about middle school and how AVID helps to make them successful! #AVIDatMESI

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

"I think the theme is that people's dreams should die" 🤦‍♀️ #MESI

One of my main takeaways from AVID training this week has been that change does not happen by default, it must happen by design! #GoFurtherWithAVID

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

My favorite AVID clap so far has been the power whoosh! Very easy to learn and quick to do! #GoFurtherWithAVID

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

I loved learning about this AEIOU group norms from training today! Definitely will be using in my classroom in the future. #GoFurtherWithAVID

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

Excited about all of the learning that’s taken place today! Can’t wait to learn even more about AVID in the next two days! #GoFurtherWithAVID

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

Joined @doggierindels last zoom with 5C so that I could be part of the kid’s last zoom of the year. She did science BINGO with them and not only was I able to join their last zoom, but I was able to get a refresher on some science content! #winwin

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

One of our @VRE_STARS got creative and did the sidewalk chalk obstacle course on her balcony!

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

Thank you @AAH147 for talking with the VRE 5th graders about engineering this morning! And a big thank you to @doggierindels for organizing everything and making the entire presentation run so smoothly! #CISD #distancelearning

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

I asked 5C to share some motivation with their classmates this morning and this was one of the responses. Some days I wonder if I’m learning more from these kids than they’re learning from me!

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

Found a treasure while cleaning out my classroom! @AWECasto @VRE_STARS does this bring back memories??

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

26 students. 26 handwritten letters. 1 very sad teacher (with a cramped hand) who misses her kiddos greatly and hopes to see them again soon.

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

5C filled our morning message media album with blue today! #CISDautismawareness @VRE_STARS

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

@MrsBowlesCRE This is awesome!! You rock!

[Alesha Alleven @MrsAlleven]

What better way to review than with musical chairs?
