Sally Jameson MP came to talk to our scholars about being an MP in UK Parliament week. She answered their questions and inspired many political aspirations.
Reading whole books serves far more function beyond the simple act of reading the parts that are absolutely necessary. It teaches scholars to explore the meanings and connections between different sections and really consider what the writer is saying.
I grew up without access to books at home. The only books I read in full were those I read in my English lessons. Whole books over extracts every time. This is the crux of it for me: "They develop slowly, through accumulated experience of what it feels like to be genuinely...
absorbed in a book, to lose track of time whilst reading, to find oneself thinking about characters or plot developments between reading sessions, to experience the peculiar satisfaction of a narrative’s resolution after sustained engagement"

@Miss_S_Gibbons I'm working on one for International Men's Day. Focussing on the importance of addressing male mental health through positive conversations.
...without even considering the practical uses a removal space serves. I'd love to see more conversation about how to utilise removal spaces rather than simply whether or not they should exist. There is much more nuance to consider than simply shouting "abolish".
A child cannot reflect on their behaviour in the classroom. If we do not enable reflection, pastoral care and appropriate interventions to take place, we are neglecting the child who is causing disruption as well as those who suffer as a result of their disruption. This is...
Has anyone considered that ‘removal rooms’ might be good safeguarding and pastoral care? Child causes a scene in a lesson, 29 other children frustrated with them, child goes a removal room and gets to have their say and calm down. Chance to find out a ‘why’ and protect dignity.
Happy half term, everyone. This one finds me with an extra reason for celebration. From January, I move into the role of SENDCo at @AAWoodfields and I am beyond excited for this new opportunity to make a difference for our scholars.
@tombennett71 I love it there.
Conversation on the table next to me:
Staff: how would you like your steak?
Customer: well done
Staff: we don't do that here
Perfection 😅
Not all heroes wear capes…..but our class of 2032 zero hero’s will wear their badges with pride! Not a single day off in their first half term at secondary school. Huge double claps!👏
@educationgovuk Why year 8? This is not early identification. Leaving children without appropriate intervention for their entire first year of secondary school is not going to support engagement.
