The easiest step to make sure kids (mostly) do what you’ve asked is to have them highlight each part of the assignment before turning in
I had students go back and edit when they realized they didn’t do everything
@DigitalPromise My planning hack is to hyperlink EVERYTHING - my “plans” are just a table that I link my slides, videos, etc on so it’s all in one easy place
*3rd grade novel test*
“Teacher, I don’t remember who the protagonist was or what a protagonist is!”
“Well bud, that’s the test question. I’m trying to test your knowledge of this..”
“Ugh - can you at least tell me what these other words mean?”
“No - that’s the vocab section…”
Third grade finished their Community Book Clubs today so I had them create their own word problems for each other to solve! I’m so proud of their determination to try (and fail) both writing and solving multi step problems
*teaches a whole lesson about self control to my 8th grade SEL lunch bunch*
“Okay class, so as your walking through the hallway, be mindful of your body and use physical impulse control”
“Well, I prefer to go down the hallways like a BeyBlade…”
SEL lesson on prioritizing: I wrote 10 things on paper that a student might do in a day, I balled them up and threw them at a volunteer, he wasn’t able to catch any trying to catch all of them…but when he focused on 1, he caught it & determined if it needed to happen THEN
My third graders did some cool work sorting global problems they listed as we begin a @TheGlobalGoals project during our community unit!#ALgifted@alabamagifted
