I’m not sure if my kids were more excited to meet a real @EliLillyandCo Scientist for career day or just to meet my big brother. Either way they’re now sparked to be curious, research, predict, experiment, and persist knowing that every failure gets us 1 step closer to success!🧑🔬
Have you ever touched a rainbow? Have you held one in your hands? All of the SFE kindergarten classes got a chance to do just that as they took turns coming to my classroom to learn all about the science behind rainbows and sunlight during our Spring Science Rotation Week. 🌈 🖐️
We’ve been learning about Saint Patrick’s Day traditions and legends this week. With all the talk about Ireland, shamrocks, and good luck we attracted the attention of a little Leprechaun. He came and played a few tricks on us but he left us a few treats for being good sports. ☘️
Our Girl Scouts are officially looking the part! We love our new uniforms and can’t wait for all of the adventures ahead. Cookie season, here we come! 🌼 💚 🍪 #wearewayne
There’s so much to feel thankful for on our kindergarten classroom! One of the thing’s I’m thankful for this year is getting to spend time with these silly turkeys each and every day! 🦃
Thank you, @teachweave, for letting Kida visit us. We’ve been reading about bugs all week & focusing on texture words. She had just shed her exoskeleton so we even got to feel her soft legs. Initially, some of us were scared, but after careful observation we decided she was cute!
We started our labeling unit in kindergarten by labeling our teacher! We stretched out our words and spelled them with the sounds we know. I’m so impressed with how great their phonetic spelling is already.
We ended our Kindy 500 event with a singing performance for the parents. Thank you Mr. Hoover for all the practice and support you gave our students to make this such a success. Doing it after all the running and racing really helped keep the jitters and wiggles to a minimum too.
You can’t have a race without wheels and this years Kindy 500 Marshal @chrismodglin provided plenty. He was even kind enough to bring in his colleague son’s track to give our kinder’s a real race experience. Thanks Mr. Modglin!
What’s more fun than watching cars race around a track? Designing and building your own car! A big shout out to our creative STEM teacher @GayleneRubin for supplying and running our car building station at this years Kindy 500 event. Hands on learning is the best way to learn!
These were the absolute cutest cars! The kids had so much fun at our anual Kindy 500 event. Thank you @ShelerKelly for leading the kids in collaboratively creating the race cars and leading our races this week. With the cooler weather the kids had a lot more gas this year.
Winners drink milk and we’re all winners at SFE! These little racers voted chocolate as the best flavor. A huge thank you to our amazing librarian Mrs. Genetempo for organizing & running the taste testing station at our Kindy 500 and to @INDairy for helping to sponsor the event!
Nugget and French Fry are all fluffed and ready to move into a bigger home. The kindergarteners were so gentle with them and know that our room needs to stay EXTRA QUIET while they are visiting with us so they don’t get scared and can grow up happy and healthy. 🤫 🐥 😉
Kindergarten Science in Spring = tiny hands, big curiosity, and a whole lot of wiggly worms! Nothing says 'hands-on learning' like 5-year-olds whispering to worms and naming them Gary.
