Meet our new sprouts! After an unsuccessful first try, we started over and tried a new batch of seeds. Thanks @MissSteimel for your help! #kaneland302#kanelandpride
Smiles for miles reading our new favorite books. Loved listening in on their discussion about what author Jory John should write next.π@IamJoryJohn#kaneland302#kanelandpride
One book, two books, old books, new books! We love our mystery readers that have been popping in to help us celebrate Read Across America Week. Thank you!

Our super second graders enjoying a little bit of competition! Guess the Covered Word game makes using our word attack strategies much more fun. Thanks Miss N!#kanelandpride
What do you do with all of that Halloween excitement and energy? Channel it into teamwork to unlock a breakout box. Way to go, super 2nd graders! You did it!

Crash! Boom! Boo! Hunting around the room for spooky onomatopoeia words. These authors canβt wait to try them out in their writing. #MissNRocks#kanelandpride
What do we see, think & wonder about our growing butterflies? Lots of excitement this week! Thanks @mrsschieber for inspiring our investigation. #monarch
Beautiful day to begin our wonder journals! Kiddos thought of lots of great questions. My favorite of the day...Were there cars in the 80βs? Yes...Iβm pretty sure there were. π#kanelandpride#kaneland302
While listening to a picture book about Ivan, this kiddo is announced as todayβs Ivan raffle winner! Way to go! Letβs keep reading! #kanelandprideOSOB
@LightUpLiteracy@YaggieKinders A6: To start the school year I would incorporate interest inventories honoring their wonders as well as connecting Ss with similar interests. Would be fun to get a wonder project going right away to encourage high levels of student engagement.#wonder302
@LightUpLiteracy A5: My big take away from the authors, as well as Lucy Calkins and even Ralph Fletcher, is to really listen to and honor student voice and choice. That is personalized learning. When given opportunities to choose, student engagement is high.#wonder302
@LightUpLiteracy I dig out nonfiction books that relate to our units of study and keep them in a book basket on our wonder table. There I try to collect items that relate to the topic that would stimulate their natural curiosity to explore and read more about the topic. #wonder302
