@TStudentsupport Plan A is when an adult reacts to a problem situation with the assumption that the student has the skills and could have responded differently. At times this assumption is true and plan A will work, but often for our struggling students it does not. Move to plan B #tomballbook
@TStudentsupport Q13 #tomballbook The ALSUP allows for collaboration in developing a plan to teach and support the student, peers, and teacher within the classroom. Support staff walk away with a specific plan for how to help the student moving forward
@TStudentsupport Q12 #tomballbook Lagging skills are the unseen coping skills that are not yet developed and need to be addressed through collaborative coaching. Unsolved problems are often easily seen and remembered in a school setting especially if the child get physically/verbally frustrated
@TStudentsupport Q11 #tomballbook When an adult encounters a struggling student but is only familiar with “plan A”, there is a tendency to want to diagnose/medicate, especially when we are talking about Ss with ADD/ADHD. Stopping there will not teach them the skills to be successful
@TStudentsupport Q10 #tomballbook A diagnosis is not student specific. No two students with ADHD will struggling in excactly the same ways, therefore in order to make progress with a struggling student you have to identify THIER specific lagging skills to address.
