@DoughneyJ A4: The first year of teaching is often the hardest because we are actively looking for all the new ways to approach the content and reach the learners. True educational change requires this approach to surface more often. Tiring- but rewarding. #edle5330
Question:
We are heavily focused on how to lead change, but as leaders, what warning signs indicate that an initiative is starting to derail? #edle5330
A3: Relating to the role of transformational leaders- change facilitators support & nurture change, but also encourage or push change to happen. CFs protect those who take risks. Their efforts toward change energize commitment rather than depleting it. #edle5330
Who else loved the piece of Simon Sinek's TedTalk in which he spoke about Dr. King?
"He gave the 'I have a dream' speech, not the 'I have a plan' speech." #edle5330
A good application piece-
We preach to our students that they learn more and grow when they make mistakes.
As educators and leaders, we have to live by these same principles. Don't be afraid to fail and grow as a result. #edle5330
@DoughneyJ I would not expect them to be approached in the same manner. Procedural change requires small adjustments to the process in which a job is done without really affecting the core of the system. Structural/cultural requires a complete change in perspective and intentions. #edle5330
A2Q2: What types of changes are currently being implemented/tested at your campus?
Would you say they are procedural, technological, or structural/cultural? #edle5330
A2: (2 of 2) Structural/Cultural change- change the nature, purpose, & intention of the job (Ls must consider needs of individuals; alter the rules, roles & relationships; & consider changing beliefs & values of the system) #edle5330
A2: (1 of 2) Procedural change- minor adjustments to the way in which a job is done (Ls must understand rules, roles, & relationships)
Technological change- change in the means by which a job is done (Ls must focus on innovation & best practice) #EDLE5330
I think this is why it is so important to develop a strong leadership team and involve them in developing change processes. A few naysayers can't negate what majority of leadership feels is best for kids/school environment/culture. #edle5330
A1; Q1: Since it will be almost impossible to get 100% buy-in from our staffs when we implement change. How do we prevent the few naysayers from ruining the change? #EDLE5330
