@SandyofSuffolk Before training days, teachers had one week's extra holiday. It was taken away to provide 5 inservice days when Baker was education minister. They were often called 'Baker days'.

@paulusher_edu @vicgoddard Back in the day, headteachers could authorise up to 10 days off. We just used to sayplease don't go away in May or the beginning of September. People respected it and it worked well.
