Students are constantly feeling rushed. Before they’re able to master a skill or concept, they get assessed and are told to move on. It leads to high anxiety and a low sense of self worth. We need to worry less about “staying on pace” and care more about depth of understanding.

Not always the case if you are lucky enough to have a good support network - but sadly there is still a long way to go when it comes to mental health awareness and acceptance!
We live in a world where if you break your arm, everyone runs over to sign your cast, but if you tell people you’re depressed everyone runs the other way. We are so accepting of any other body part breaking down other than our brains.

Education is not teacher centered or even student centered, but it is RELATIONSHIP centered. Teachers thrive w/ positive admin relationships & students thrive w/ positive teacher relationships.
Some people with Depression can’t get out of bed. Some can. Some can’t keep a job. Some can. Some don’t have an appetite. Some do. Some self harm. Some don’t. Some are suicidal. Others aren’t. Depression looks different for everyone. Don’t judge what you don’t understand.
