Today is technically my last day of maternity leave— Zero regrets with the semester taken at home. Grateful for the efforts of my sub and students who allowed this to truly be a leave.
Another Ready, Set, Go! Alum is officially a TSC teacher! This has been a long time goal of hers.
Congrats, Emma! You will be a blessing to your classroom and our community in general.
How could you even be mad about something so clever?
Yesterday I wrote about appreciating the genius in all children and today we have this wonderful example on display.
Given a toy mop, this toddler creates a scenario in which it can be put to appropriate use.
When you put yourself in his shoes, it’s a perfectly reasonable line of thinking - drawing upon the both his past experience and understanding of the object’s function.
It’s also one that this mom had the inclination to appreciate and document, rather than overreact to. (Though I can’t help but think this filming was followed by some gentle redirection.)
This isn’t a suggestion that parents adopt an “anything goes” approach to raising toddlers, but it is a reminder that when you adopt the right mindset… one informed by a true understanding of your child’s development and attuned to the wonder of childhood… you’re likely to look at “misbehavior” with very different eyes.

A list of things I’ve done today that are a huge privilege not lost on me:
Exercised
Grocery shopped and filled my gas tank
Snuggled healthy children
Read a book
Gratitude! It changes everything.
Andy and I took the kids to the volleyball game tonight and I think we held our daughters for maybe four minutes combined. Our fellow teachers and friends held them, gave candy, shared toys, played games, on and on. We love being Raiders!! 🩵🧡
As a teacher here are my top 10 ways I show my students that I care! I have learned that you don't always have to spend a lot of money or buy candy. #teachbetter
What else could we add to this list? @teacher2teacher
