If you all could, in your charity, say a prayer for a good and holy death for my uncle Gary, I would greatly appreciate it. It sounds like tonight may be his last.
“It is most certain that the malice of our own hearts is the principal cause that hinders us from attaining to our beatitude and everlasting happiness, because it makes us slow to godly actions, dull to virtuous exercises, and suggests a greater difficulty in them than there is, which if it were not a man might walk without any molestation in the way of virtue, and at length without labor attain to his desired end.”
St. Peter of Alcantara
Not every enjoyment is a vice, and you are allowed to enjoy things. Not all people are going to be capable of doing the same things, and most of the guys who do the hard things don't do them all the time, and know when to ease up. Given your struggle in this area you'd be better off focusing on denying yourself in little ways. For example, maybe as soon as you think about eating breakfast you put it off for just 10 or 20 minutes, if you want chips while watching your show fill a small bowl rather than taking the bag, or make popcorn with just salt and lemon juice, no butter, if you're about to sit and watch something force yourself to get up and do a small task for 10 minutes before you sit down... Little things like that is how you train yourself to do a little more overtime. Finding peace with yourself and not playing the comparison game is so crucial. When someone talks about a difficult penance try just thinking about how you can take that and simplify it for yourself to fit what you're capable of now, and don't beat yourself up bc you can't keep up with everyone else. Sometimes practicing moderation and temperance rather than strict fasting is enough.
Better yet, don't do banking on your phone and don't store your debit card information on it either.
Sometimes I think my husband is a little too cautious, but the more stories I hear the more I'm glad we don't even have a debit card to worry about.
Apple won't tell you this, but your passcode is more dangerous than losing your iPhone.
If a thief has both, they don't need to hack anything.
They just:
- change your Apple ID password
- turn off Find My
- drain your bank accounts
- lock you out forever
59 seconds. That's all it takes.
Here are 5 settings that prevent this:
@TradBob26@J_Fatz They have to have something that triggers your brain to think it's still hungry though bc it's too easy to eat too many...or is it just me? 😅🙈
