For the past week first grade classes have been building habitat murals displaying animals, plants, and shelters of a specific habitat. Today we got to take a tour of all the habitats. So much creativity and hard work!
Our P2 trait this week is humility. We practiced exercising humility during our morning meeting today by playing rock, paper, scissors! No matter the outcome, we worked on finding ways to stay humble ๐ชจ ๐ โ๏ธ
These IB learners have been researching the plants that grow in a tropical grassland. Today we started constructing them to add to our habitat mural! ๐ณ๐ฑ๐พ
These mathematicians added a little reading into their small group today. They built a nonsense word with โscrabbleโ tiles and then had to use the numbers in a 3 addend equation!
Bookcases, rugs, boards, tablesโฆ these kiddos measured it all today! They chose a nonstandard tool, made an estimation, and measured to find out if they were right! ๐

Started off our measurement unit by exploring the importance of using appropriate tools for measuring. Today we figured out that our feet are all different sizes which leads to different measurements. While it was fun, we learned feet arenโt the best tool for measuring! ๐ฃ
We had the best time celebrating our โHow We Express Ourselvesโ unit with holiday crafts from around the world! A perfect way to wrap up before winter break! โ๏ธ
We had the best time exploring soil today! We learned about the different layers of soil, drew a diagram, and created our own edible soil (definitely their favorite part!)๐ชฑ ๐ฑ

Today we had an inquiry into the best way to count large numbers (using candy corn or course!). Turns out, counting by tens is the most efficient way! ๐
