To conclude our structures unit, the children had to design and make a bridge to fit a criteria. It had to have a span of 50cm, the deck had to be at least 20cm from the floor and it had to carry two toy cars. @RedscopeSchool
We’ve had a very creative week with our DT unit on structures. We worked in groups to make a suspension bridge, which had a wide span, and could carry the weight of a toy car. Everyone worked collaboratively in their groups. @RedscopeSchool
In DT today we started our structures unit and explored ways in which pillars and beams are used to span gaps. We then tested to see which beam shape is the strongest. @RedscopeSchool
In Year 5, we have been looking at the 5 pillars of Islam. We invited Nooram to our lesson to tell us about her experience of fasting. She gave a detailed explanation of how it makes her feel closer to Allah and how she feels unique, as she’s the only pupil fasting at Redscope.
The Science Week theme this year is time. We looked at how forensic science has developed over the years. Dr. Edmond Locard discovered the principle of forensic science "Every contact leaves a trace". We loved making fingerprints and looking at their patterns. @RedscopeSchool
In maths today, we had to solve 10 clues to get the numbers to unlock our phone to use the compass app to be to escape. I was really impressed with the teamwork and resilience. Every group worked so hard to successfully solve each clue. @RedscopeSchool
We’ve had a busy afternoon creating something special to celebrate Mother’s Day. We developed a few skills including resilience, patience and realised that we can learn from our mistakes. @RedscopeSchool
We’ve enjoyed watching Wonka today as our reading reward. We had some very good singers and dancers when the Oompa Loompa song came on. @RedscopeSchool
We had a fabulous time watching the Cinderella Pantomime @winterhillsch. It was lovely to see past pupils of Redscope performing. Well done to everyone involved, you’ve clearly put a lot of thought and time into the production. @RedscopeSchool
Year 5 have been very busy making reindeer candy cane decorations to sell at our Christmas Fayre. They will look fabulous on your tree. 🎄@RedscopeSchool
We’ve had a very busy day creating candy cane reindeer decorations for our classroom tree. After practicing running stitch, back stitch and hem stitch everyone selected which stitch they preferred to use and gave a reason why. @RedscopeSchool
We were so good with the drama workshop that we finished early! While we waited for the coach, we sang our space songs, which will be sung in the Minster on Thursday evening. They sounded beautiful and it encouraged a few extra children to try to come along. @RedscopeSchool
We’ve had an amazing experience this afternoon at Rotherham Minster. We completed a drama activity linked to the Museum of the Moon, which is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. @RedscopeSchool
