Year 4 went to Arundel Wetlands as part of Generation Wild, exploring wetland wildlife and sustainability, built nests, met a giant bird puppet which set exciting challenges and they saw some amazing wetland birds like pelicans, redshanks and tufted ducks.
Yesterday, in their Outdoor Adventure Activity learning, Birch Class worked collaboratively in teams of five, exploring ways of travelling as a team whilst being allowed only 5 points of contact across the team- 2 hands, 4 feet and 2 bottoms.
As part of Science Week, Birch Class made switches using card, paper fasteners and paper clips. They then tested them in a working circuit using a bulb to prove whether their switches would connect and disconnect the circuit. Well done Birch.
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, Birch Class dressed up as a character from their favourite book. Amongst other exciting activities, they created their own designs for a new National Book Token as part of a national competition.
Birch Class spent this afternoon building circuits to identify what they need to make a complete circuit. They then tried swapping out components, batteries etc to discover different permutations for a working circuit.
Birch Class wrote some wonderful poetry this morning about steam trains using figurative language. this as in response to our A Town Explores a Book workshop about E Nesbit’s book The Railway Children which they attended this morning.
Year 4 attended a drama workshop from “8Ways to Connect”. The focus was on ways of resolving conflict, based around E Nesbit’s novel, ‘The Railway Children’.
Birch Class are completing a classroom number scavenger hunt at the moment. They’re struggling to find something which is a prism... maybe they can create one...
Birch Class wrote Christmas / seasonal haikus, then made greetings cards with the haikus published inside. Then they made their own envelopes- great DT and art learning-well done Birch.
Elm Class had a lively discussion about climate change this morning and created some lovely information posters suggesting ways we can all live more sustainably.
