School leaders: It's time.
Time to support your teachers on AI.
Inaction because you're afraid you'll get it wrong? That won't cut it anymore.
ChatGPT was released in November 2022. During the spring semester of 2023, some teachers started seeing the effects of it.
Now, with newer and more capable AI models being released all the time, students have found it. Teachers know about it.
The days of sitting on your hands and waiting "until we know more"?
Those days are looooooooooooong gone.
It's time to take action. Your teachers -- and your students -- need information. They need training. They need ANYTHING you can give them.
According to a February 2025 educator survey by Samsung ...
➡️ 96% of teachers believe AI will be integral to education in the next decade
➡️ 97% say they lack the resources to integrate emerging tech like AI into their curriculum
➡️ 59% say they need professional development, curriculum resources, collaborations with the tech industry, and updated tech
It's not coming. It's HERE.
You could do nothing. You could wait for guidance. You could wait for funding for PD budget.
Or you could ACT. Here are some options now ...
1. Talk to teachers and students. To start, at least start to gather some information about concerns and benefits. Let's be honest -- they're already using it.
2. Seek out online resources. Organizations like ISTE (https://t.co/rDpiW4cdzh) and aiEDU (https://t.co/1lnHDPpL5F) provide resources for schools regarding AI literacy.
3. Collaborate with other leaders. You're not the only one trying to make sense of this -- and figure out what to do next. Reach out to others for ideas. My weekly email newsletter, AI for Admins, connects +3k school leaders on AI. Subscribe: https://t.co/nCtScIjXla
4. Find an experienced PD provider. Lots of folks are leading AI-related PD ... and we are in demand. (I can't fulfill all of the requests I'm getting and have to keep referring opportunities to others.) Lean on folks like me, @HollyClarkEdu, @k_shelton, Dee Lanier, @ericcurts, @nnekamcgee, Kristina Ishmael, @BeckyKeene, @Savvy_Educator and others to support your teachers.
5. Empower your teacher leaders. There's likely expertise in your school buildings right now. Find your classroom teachers who are dealing with this -- and empower them to empower others. (Then, please ... pay them a stipend for their valuable experiences they share.)
You don't need a computer science degree.
You just need to take action.

Real change happens when we show up anyway—
when we choose empathy over apathy,
and compassion over convenience.
Because kindness isn’t weakness.
It’s leadership.
It’s resilience.
It’s power.
