A classmate of mine recently published her first book. She asked me to read it and see what I thought. Not only is it great, her dedication page had me tearing up. 20 years later she dedicated her first book to our 4th grade teacher. Never underestimate the impact you have.
I gave my kids the freedom to show what they know about Greece however they wanted. Here’s what I got... a handmade Greek vase (with a write up), two scratch coded websites, a poem, an essay and several presentations/posters. And guess what? They are all so great! So proud!
Today I got word that my 1st teaching mentor passed away. Twitter doesn’t allow enough characters for me to express how much I learned, respected and admired this man. The world is forever a better place for having had him in it. My world is forever a better place because of him.
After 42 years of teaching he retired with the support of a community and the love of all. I hope one day I can say I made a fraction of the impact he made on the world.
Preparing for celebration of learning week. I can’t wait for my students to share their freedom of speech projects with the community! They have developed claims, studied court cases and data and debated the issues now they can share their learning in a meaningful setting!
@maineteacher@YogaGlo I like Om Land Yoga when I have time to go. They have 3 studios. I also use the MINDBODY app to find other classes around me. Otherwise I like the yoga studio app and YouTube for free at home classes! Also Beachbody has some yoga classes (you do need a subscription though)
Today was Miss McDonald’s last day with us and the kids really wanted to throw a party... 90 cupcakes, lots of hugs/cards and an awesome intern later we wish her the best of luck!
We are studying Gandhi in world history and I asked my kids to think about a modern issue they would be willing to fight for. Reading their responses truly inspires me. They listen. They know. They are ready to stand up for what they believe in. #globalcitizens
When kids are struggling or having a hard day I slip them a kind word on a sticky note. To say today was a challenge is an understatement, no power, no internet, sick and just tired. I just opened my computer to this and suddenly I feel like maybe it wasn’t as bad as I thought...
