🧵why put student on unsuitable course? why not ask us/school about their story? World is brutal sometimes -today feels like that. would like to be able to offer a solution but can't find one. @educationgovuk given until 19 this student should be in education -how do they?
Help! #GCSEResults#college
pupil rejected because 4 not 5 passes (got 2 strong 2 standard) offered unrelated BTEC for a year whilst waiting for subject appeals for 3s. compassion after story of their yr11 4 passes is a big achievement. where can they apply? 🧵
@hobgoblintc_@keith_campion#teamenglish if you are teaching ww1 poetry and would like to give students great contextual understanding I recommend this touring production.
@RealGeoffBarton morally wrong it would be...but have we seen this government demonstrate good moral values?
I fear striking over pay will only lead to yet more public criticism. I would like to see strike action over inadequate funding leading to budgets which squeeze all the key areas.
@secretHT1 so angry and intend to stay angry @educationgovuk really need to wake up to the crisis.
The unfunded pay rise, rising energy costs together are crippling school budgets which means cuts = resources opportunities & experiences narrowed for children & bigger classes and less TAs
For various reasons I am going to start a thread of positives that happen each day. Feel free to add your own positive of the day.
There's so much negativity in the world and the teaching profession so let's focus on the positives!
@MissSelsbyHist@Literacy_Trust Agree this was a really positive afternoon. Great to focus on practical ways to support students build their specialist and technical vocabulary!
#ECF leads Anyone else struggling to get their ECTs registered. mine are on dfe portal but still awaiting TRA checks. means they are not yet recognised by @Ambition_Inst so haven't started #steplab frustrating start.

I can only assume this guidance has been issued because of news about letters written by primary students. What is does is show your contempt and lack of respect for the
teaching profession. Children are astute. Children speak plainly. My yr9 class know what a democracy is. 3/3
.@nadhimzahawi@educationgovuk insulting guidance on how to teach political issues in the classroom. I always keep mt politics to myself BUT i can share this with you. Teaching as instructed democracy as part of BV the students i teach are not stupid. 1/3
I taught features of a democracy to year 9. Impartially. Presented facts. THEY asked ME how I could call Britain a democracy when some in government thought they were above the rule of law. THEY asked me why rules were being introduced about protest/ freedom of speech. 2/3
@chris_cjd@educationgovuk no thanks to the idea of an MP volunteering! their contempt for school staff and students has been clear throughout the pandemic.
@educationgovuk so the plan is for these ex-teachers to sign up to supply agencies. HOW are schools paying for this? We have no supply budget left due to all the teachers off in autumn term with covid Does the DfE understand how school budgets work & how much supply costs?
