@mrsrisreading I also see both girls looking to the “stars” and dreaming/wishing for their life to be a little different than what it is. It could also be the girls are lost in who they are and use the stars to guide them into who they become.

@mrsrisreading @alooghobi This GN does a great job in saying a lot with very little words. This novel would be great to use for inferencing activities. The Ss could also quick write a story using the picture to guide their writing. They’d have to explain what they used from the scene in their writing.

@mrsrisreading @JasonReynolds83 @ToshMcGaughy Nothing the students groups do are ever anything big. The low cuts get ice cream for a mom. Cynthia tells jokes and brings her gpa giggles. Greg’s friends try to make him smell better. But they are kind to each other and work hard to be a difference in their lives.

@mrsrisreading @JasonReynolds83 I enjoyed the story of the low cuts. I also enjoyed Cynthias story (say so) but they are all so good. Simple at first, but as you begin to think they are actually very deep. There is a lot happening.

@mrsrisreading @jasminewarga I would pair this novel in verse to this GN nonfiction piece that continues to give examples of their struggles in a different way. These books are important because they represent/showcase struggles that we don’t always see but need to hear to help us through it.
