P2/3 made Egyptian Flatbread in class today. We all had an opportunity to knead, roll and watch our flatbread cook. Then we enjoyed our flatbreads with some honey, just like the Ancient Egyptians would have!
P2/3 have enjoyed their music block with Mrs Moore. We have learned all about rhythm, high and low notes, sang some wonderful songs, learned about the different instruments in an orchestra and played tuned and untuned percussion! Here is a snippet from our final lesson.
P2/3 have created their own Egyptian jewellery collar. We had fun investigating different types of jewellery designs, then using pasta, paint and jewels to design our own collar.
Today P2/3 went under the sea. We moved like crabs, octopus and shoals of fish. This lesson started our Laudato Si day of learning, we learned about the plastic pollution in oceans, what we can do to help and how this links to our global goals and being responsible citizens.
In technology, P2/3 have been learning how to search and save pictures from the internet to add to their work on SeeSaw. Today we found a picture of a shaduf which the ancient Egyptians used to take water from the River Nile to water their crops.
P2/3 have been learning about Narrative Writing. We know that the story must have 4 parts. A title, an orientation, a complication and a resolution. This week we wrote a personal narrative about the storm that we had all experienced. We are becoming confident writers! π
Today was our Languages rotation day, all the teachers visited different classes to teach about a different language and a little about the culture of the country where they speak that language. Ms. Gourdie taught us about Polish through a song and a dance from that country. π΅π±
P2/3 love to dance during our regulation breaks in class, giving everyone a chance to get up, move around and release some energy before getting back to our learning.
Well done to the children selected from our class to recite at the Scots Verse Assembly this week. They performed our poem βSair Teethβ with confidence, expression and put on a wonderful performance. We will post a video next week of the whole class recital next week.
P2/3 have been learning about different types of rolls in gymnastics and have been working towards linking these rolls with our balances and poses from previous weeks.
P2/3 have been using Deines materials in 100s, 10s and 1s to solve halving calculations. We are using concrete materials to understand how to halve a number.
This week P2/3 have been learning about Scots language. We discussed different Scots words and what they mean and created our own tartan to add into our βpop artβ artwork created with our favourite Scots word. π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
P2/3 have been working on their skills in dance and movement this term for P.E. Today we worked on movements to represent Autumnal adventures, growing trees, falling leaves, putting on boots, jumping in leaves and moving around the parkππ #snapshotjotter
P2/3 were supported by P7 this week to complete a coding challenge on ScratchJr. They learned about adding backgrounds, changing their sprite, and making them move by adding an algorithm code with the different coding blocks. Great fun and lots of learning! #snapshotjotterweek
P2/3 have been learning about Night and Day, this week we learned about the stars and how they can be seen in special groups called constellations. We constructed some of these constellations using our peg boards and marshmallows and cocktail sticks. π
P2/3 have been working on strategies to solve multiplication calculations. We can write out repeated addition and use βlots ofβ to help us answer these questions. #mathssuperstars π
