I also has many 1st graders stop by to show off their bird nest creations. @MAEOE_MD
Our class was thankful @MsVoorhees_GES found this cvc game for us. They were begging to play again! My favorite part was watching students check answers w/ their team prior to clicking the answer. They also helped teammates by teaching them to finger stretch to get answers.
We had writing conferences this week! Each student met with me to determine the writing goal they are setting for themselves next week. We learned that even students that wrote a perfect sentence can set goals to make their writing even better! βοΈ π
Students brought in 100 items to help them celebrate the 100th day. They completed 3 minute challenges to see if they could create the given task. They made long lines, tall towers, shapes, and even spelled their names! They are definitely 100 days smarter! π€
Mrs.Chang missed her calling to be an actress! You should have heard the laughter from our room. She did it all while teaching an important lesson about being yourself. π―
Students were excited to be able to talk and share in more detail with their friends in our MINI community circles. We'll definitely be mixing them in more often. Thanks Mrs. Persaud for sharing this idea with our staff. π€
Will the groundhog see his shadow tomorrow!? Our class made predictions by putting our name on a chart. More friends chose that he will not see his shadow than he will. βοΈπ·βοΈ
We loved World Read Aloud Day! π Our class even enjoyed a special book visit from @MsVoorhees_GES while I read to her class. It is fun getting our youngest readers to enjoy reading. Thanks for organizing @greenwood_rs
On Friday, we reviewed our unit on measuring and comparing length. We had so much fun designing our own buildings to create our class city. We compared lengths to our friends buildings and to cube sticks. ππ
We learned about emergencies today! We are now great decision makers about situations that require us to call 911. Students even practiced dialing it! We learned 911 operators may ask for your address so practice saying it with your gator! ππππβοΈπ
Our class was SO lucky to have special visitors on Friday! 8th graders from Rosa Parks came to honor Dr. King w/ a day of service. They supported students while in centers. It's amazing how quick our young learners looked up to them & wanted to impress them with their work.
My friends working on this activity with my support showed so much perseverance. They had to make each letter sound, blend them together to read the word, and then determine if it was a real or nonsense word. Loved how proud they were each time they read a word. We are READING!!
Overheard quote of the day:"I never want to be a teacher when I grow up." "Whatttt!! Why?" "Haven't you ever seen Mrs. George? She never gets a break! I just want to be a regular person that goes to work." #appreciated by a kinder β€οΈ
Students at this literacy center were extremely motivated to use magnifying glasses to hunt for heart words in holiday and winter stories. π΅οΈβοΈππ
