@4kazorreo@tsnow1977 @MaggieM00021130 Assuming extremes of those who don’t fully agree with you is not how any of us achieve understand or progress. Assuming that’s appropriate because I said science does change is ridiculous. I’m open for productive conversation in my dm’s. Otherwise, have a great evening!
@4kazorreo@tsnow1977 @MaggieM00021130 Stating “there is no other narrative that’s correct” is why I replied. Obviously, if a child has a severe PEMC like CF, teachers (inc myself) would take extra precautions like masking, at minimum, when near the student.
@4kazorreo@tsnow1977 @MaggieM00021130 (3) It’s unrealistic to think “a child that goes in public will never contract a virus- & if they do, it’s clearly someone else’s fault.” You can do everything right & still catch a virus. Your only effective measure would be to never leave the house. Also, unrealistic.
@4kazorreo@tsnow1977 @MaggieM00021130 (2) regression socially and emotionally in children. The issues I’m seeing with my hs students are unprecedented & the students are who will deal with that for many years to come. If your argument is- well, what if a family member has PEMCs? ...
@4kazorreo@tsnow1977 @MaggieM00021130 I’m sorry, but understanding science is understanding that it does change. Many of the things we have thought were truth were hypotheses based on the available data at the time. You also have to understand cost-benefit analyses, as we have caused severe developmental delays &...
@msblackteach I work at an academic magnet school and I try not to assign homework because my high school students tell me they have 4-6 hours of homework NIGHTLY!!! + their REQUIRED sport + many have jobs 😳 They are sleep deprived & don’t have free time
@Mssarahmssarah@NYCMayor@nytimes I’m a teacher and tons of teachers I know feel that masks did/do hide tons of emotions. My biggest strength is relationships/connection & it was almost impossible to have without seeing facial expressions (both ways). Unmasked- the connection is back and we are laughing again.
@latoyadixon5 (5) again. I would argue it’s better for teachers to create/source their own curriculum over being provided a packaged one with a script. There’s no ownership, teacher could interpret it differently, and likely lead to faster burnout Bc anyone can read a script.
@latoyadixon5 I’m not sure what grade levels you have experience with, but in the high school courses I teach- there is no provided “curriculum” that has all the resources needed. I have standards & I create curriculum. I prefer to have that autonomy because I’ve often found the few ..(1)
@latoyadixon5 (4) So TPT can help supplement curriculum that is lacking. It can also provide new ideas, innovative projects, tech integration... especially for teachers who are vets/removed from the latest in tech/teaching ideas, for exhausted teachers, for when your planning time was taken..
@latoyadixon5 (3) TPT because I want more Econ teachers to have real resources created by someone who has a degree in it, and not be left to Google or purchase expensive online programs. Same for Personal Finance. I think teachers teaching is better than some dvd series or online program. ..
@latoyadixon5 (2) materials given have incorrect or far outdated information. When I was in a county with district wide exams for all courses - the tests created by teachers were poor with wrong information (I teach Econ, so most were history folks forced to teach it). I sell my materials on..
@DrNicholasKing@mskkeverett That’s great that your kids know these boundaries, but there are many high schoolers that fear the repercussions of not replying right away. Many of these messages could have waited. I think that’s what the OP is saying- parents, should do what you’re doing.
@SteeleThoughts Yes, but they would only deal with some classroom management. I have everything planned out for students to do 100% independently. The sub is just the adult making sure no one dies. If I forced them to create the lesson, I’d essentially lose the day completely
@iAmFearless_ As a teacher, I hate the idea of pressuring perfect attendance. I’ve never thought kids should come when they are sick and I understand other issues come up. Is it harder to master material with excessive absence, of course, but I’m going to give them the opportunity.
@JasonLove02 Okay well now I’m going to cry! I miss you and all of my HVA babies so much. You are so special! Stay in touch and keep me up to date with the amazing things you’re doing.
