High School SpEd English Teacher in Springtown ISD—Lover of my husband, my daughter & my bonus son, books, theatre, LOTR, Disney, popcorn, and dark chocolate.
Hey y’all! I’m a HS SpEd English teacher & it’s #clearthelist time. This year I mainly have books. I do have basics & decor-but I want to build the class library most. My Ss arrive saying they “can’t read.” Together, let’s show them they can love reading.

The superintendent and executive cabinet will be attending the senior-awards ceremony to take advantage of the photo op by the local media with students they've never met. If you see them wandering the campus, please point them in the direction of the gym.
Just a friendly Friday reminder to #parkercounty that @RogersForTexas is NOT a true education ally and voted FOR #hb4545 which targets and punishes students and schools. Actions speak louder than words. Look at his voting record!
@LynsieThompson #spoileralert the data says……NO I’m convinced making everting multiple choice right/wrong answer from 3rd grade on has contributed to the loss of critical thinking skills
@marykzimmerman Yes! And I am so THANKFUL she did. Look at all the joy and laughter you bring to those around you. I’m grateful to have you in my life, and I’m so happy your mother chose life!
@Sisyphus38 I’d be open to a conversation if you need more people! I’m SpEd and this year has been eye opening and problematic to say the least. And yet, I’ll be back next year.
I keep writing tweets and deleting them before posting. I’m just going to say this:
This week, like others, has been hard for educators across the nation. & we have endured this for almost 3 years now. Society can spare me it’s hollow praises. Give me action.

It’s been a hard week. But to be honest, I’ve had some wins with students this week as well. One in particular this morning felt significant, and I’m carrying that with me into tomorrow.
We need to not only normalize but EXPECT our teachers to set boundaries. If we have to check our personal lives at the door when we come in, we need to be able to check our work lives at the door when we go out.
@MrsBNG Gorgeous! Seriously- wow! I think more professional women should go to work natural at least a few times a week. I’m all for makeup- I love it! It’s just that, we also look good without it. And you DEFINITELY DO! Your eyes sparkle without anything at all!
@LynsieThompson @DouglasReeves As a #SpEd teacher, I’m all for having various ways to assess/take grades (as long as we keep track and take data). As an overwhelmed teacher, I see assessment reform as 1 more thing Ts are told we are doing “wrong,” 1 more thing added to our plates, & 1 more lowered expectation.
@LynsieThompson Honestly, the amount of day2day documentation. Everyone “knows” there’s a lot of paperwork. But, do they really? Document every intervention, every offer for tutoring, every problematic behavior each time it occurs AND what you did about it. All this has to happen every day.
