Teachers, NEVER let anyone make you feel guilty for enjoying your time off from school. Whether its excited on a Friday afternoon or even that springbreak is near. Teachers pour out their heart & soul on a daily basis! You're an amazing human, but you are human!
Leaders, people quit their boss not their job. But donโt make the mistake of thinking these leaders were all bullies, too demanding or unreasonable. Many leave because they never felt valued, Appreciated, or supported. Praise, acknowledge, & let them know how important they are!
Empowering teachers means lightening their load, not adding to it. Let's remove the weight of administrative burdens and non-teaching responsibilities, fostering a culture where educators can focus on what truly matters: inspiring minds and shaping futures.
Whoever told leaders that adults don't need praise or recognition for a job well done never truly understood effective leadership or human nature. Recognition and appreciation are the keystones to building a motivated, loyal, and high-performing team!

@DrBradJohnson do not impact graduation or โpassingโ a course. So student effort may or may not be present. We also overwork our teachers compared to the Finns. Itโs insane the amount of time Finnish teachers have for lesson planning, grading, etc. This is just a small sample of the differnces.
@DrBradJohnson One of the primary differences was student tracking. After โ9thโ grade, they choose either the high school or the vocational track. In both cases, students have assessments that must be passed. In America, we do not track, and in many states the tests we give โโ
If you don't think morale is important, remember that a student's learning environment is created by the teacher. A teacher who is supported, valued, & appreciated will create a more positive & dynamic learning environment than a teacher who is not.
For years, Iโve been made to feel as if I have a character flaw for wanting this. And important words in here - FOR ALL. I might be one of the few who speaks up to ask for it, but everyone would benefit from it.
Leaders, praise and appreciation are critical components of building a positive school culture that supports growth & well-being for all. Teachers who feel valued & recognized for their hard work and contributions are more motivated, engaged, and committed to their profession.
MHS has a group of students and teachers heading to Finland! Want to help out? Buy some delicious popcorn from Double Good :) https://t.co/PWF6aiQhSn . Thanks for taking a look! @DoADoubleGood
Over 90% of Finnish teachers remain in education for the entirety of career. We have an attrition rate of nearly 50% every 5 years. They pay a fair salary, don't have a formal teacher evaluation, value teacher input, & don't overload their plates focusing on standardized tests
Headed to the Pittsburgh Zoo with some great teachers and students :) look how happy they are, even though they had to be at school at 5:15 am ๐คฃ @MHSTrentSherman @mhs_elliott

The #1 priority of admin should be staff morale.
Everything else is secondary. Here's a few tips:
* give them a voice
* Trust them as professionals
* Treat everyone as individuals/ humans
* Respect their time
* Show them you care personal/professional
* celebrate/ appreciate
