While most of the community is freezing under snow and ice, we're dreaming of spring at West! Students planted the first seeds for our hydroponics garden system this week! #mphawks#seeforyourself#seethestars#mpwestgarden
These students asked to use their earned Friday Free Time for a book club in my room. So cool! I absolutely support their idea and can't wait to see what they come up with! #mphawks#seeforyourself#seethestars#readforjoy
PLN Ch.11- Giving students quick feedback is super easy using the Google Platform. When students use Docs to write, I can leave comments while grading and we can discuss later. #EDUC522
PLN Ch.10- Assistive tech in the general education classroom can consist of iPads used by all students. Students can use various apps to help them with lessons. #EDUC522
PLN Ch.9- Providing students freedom in a lesson is an amazing thing for a teacher to do! Students have the potential to be creative, innovative & passionate about things they want to learn. Google Slides is a way to give students freedom to express their knowledge #EDUC522
PLN Ch.8- Social media use in the classroom is an excellent way to share your story. I love using Twitter to show our community all the wonderful things we are doing in the classroom. It's quick, simple and reaches a lot of people! #EDUC522
PLN Ch.7- Game based learning is particularly helpful in math. Students need to memorize basic facts but that work can be boring! Games provide them a chance to learn the facts while playing and interacting with peers. #EDUC522
PLN Ch.6- Online education has come to the forefront of the minds of all educators while we deal with Covid19. It has been a learning curve but we have found technology to be an absolute lifeline during these uncertain times. #EDUC522
PLN Ch.5- Digital Citizenship can be easily taught in the moment. For example, when showing students how to gather research for a project, we can remind them how to make a safe search and not distribute personal information. #EDUC522
PLN Ch.4- Technology can be "overused". I have found that simple lesson can be just as effective as lessons with the latest and greatest tech. For example, students building a garden bench by reading the directions provided, not going to youtube for directions :) #EDUC522
PLN Ch.3- Students can express their creativity in a multitude of ways with technology. One way I have done this is by having students design garden plans for our school garden layouts with google slides/drawings. #EDUC522
PLN Ch.2- Technology can be a huge asset to the classroom but it does not replace building relationships with kids. Teachers must still take time to sit down and communicate with their students before any instruction can happen. #EDUC522
