@Keir_Starmer Is it April Fool’s day? How on earth can you things are improving? How about you come and spend a few days in a hospital on the shop floor, or in general practice and then make these ridiculous claims.
@DrVoles Whilst everyone is bickering over who is worthy of the best salaries the billionaires are laughing at us all the way to the bank. It’s not a race to the bottom. Drs are not the enemy. Blame successive governments for screwing working people.
Better advisors needed @wesstreeting
If you are going to tell the public that there are more GPs, they are rightly going to expect their local practice to have more access
Sadly the way GPs have been recruited isn’t leading to more appts or more GPs
@pixie_duff@DrHWazir@wesstreeting Because the money is being poured into the ARRS scheme meaning partners can employ PAs from this pot but not GPs. The money needs instead to go direct to partners and let them decide where they spend it ( eg on actual doctors not pretend ones)
@SophyRidgeSky Great piece of journalism @SophyRidgeSky . As a doctor, the passing of the bill is unnerving. I can’t imagine any drs signing off on an assisted suicide without a high court judge at the very least. It is already a shambles. Something this important needs better leadership.
Teenagers are applying to study medicine not knowing the dire reality of being a doctor in the NHS. They will do a 6 year medical degree and take on a 100k student loan, just to end up unemployed at the end of it.
1000s of doctors are unemployed because they cannot get into speciality training. This is because there aren’t enough training numbers for them.
The government can choose to increase training numbers but are deliberately restricting them. This is because they would prefer UK doctors to be unemployed and desperate. This leads to doctors having no choice but to accept poor pay and conditions within the NHS.
This isn’t a failure of workforce planning. This is a deliberate dismantling of the doctor workforce.
When you can’t see a specialist, when you have to wait days to see a GP, or hours queuing up outside A&E, ask yourself why.
Those responsible should be resigning in shame.
@medicalmodelbri@DrNeenaJha The partners here should be ashamed of themselves. No thought into the wellbeing of their patients. Would they be happy for their family members to be registered I wonder?
@wesstreeting I’ve been a GP 20 years @wesstreeting and can’t get work. So please explain to the public why this is? Oh yes core funding is pitiful, partners can’t afford the number of GPs they need and you want to flood general practice with ARRS staff. That’s why people can’t see a GP
@DrSdeG Our local hospital is constantly Opel 4. Managers in a panic. Meanwhile the moral injury to the hospital doctors treating elderly patients with hip fractures in the ‘ fit to sit ‘ area is horrific. Fed up with NHSE trying to pretend it’s not that bad. It’s diabolical and unsafe.
@DrEilidhMaria I saw your post and fully supported you ( and all your work on PAs .. ). Also called out the poster. It was totally unkind and uncalled for! Sounds like a wonderful F2 few months. Enjoy 😄
@veggieequallife Ridiculous gmc reply.. do they study medicine? Yes but it’s not actually medicine and it’s shorter in duration… so why not just say no then!!
