Chesak Cheetahs were solving problems in Explore using the Engineering Design Process! Kinder scientists built casts for a broken wrist. 1st grade investigators communicated over a distance using light and sound. 2nd grade engineers designed insulators to keep an ice pop cold.
After listening to the story Bone Soup, Chesak 2nd graders were asked, โCan you build a device to balance a witchโs cauldron?โ They used the 4 Cโs of Engineering to solve this problem and design some cool cauldron contraptions! @ChesakCheetahs@d158#huntley158explore
Chesak 1st graders did a Storybook Stem activity with the book Runaway Pumpkin. They were challenged to build a device to stop a rolling pumpkin:) The challenge was accepted and the problem was solved using the 4 Cโs of Engineering! @ChesakCheetahs@d158#huntley158explore
Chesak kindergarteners used the Five Little Pumpkin song to inspire them to build a gate that pumpkins could not roll off of:) They had to use critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity to solve this problem. Check out their gate designs! @ChesakCheetahs@d158
How can you see light? 1st graders at Chesak learned all about this by drawing shadows and doing an activity with a sticker to determine why you canโt see objects in total darkness. Ask them about it! @ChesakCheetahs@d158#huntley158explore
What is the structure and function of the lungs and stomach? Kindergarteners at Chesak learned all about it using a hands-on lung model and making their own stomach model! @ChesakCheetahs@d158#huntley158explore
What is the difference between a reversible and irreversible change? 2nd graders at Chesak learned all about it with a hands-on leaf project and picture sort!@ChesakCheetahs @d158#huntley158explore
Taught one of my favorite lessons today! This organ apron sure does come in handy when teaching kindergarteners all about the human body:) @d158@ChesakCheetahs#huntleyexplore158
2nd graders at Chesak learned about a young INVENTOR who used the ENGINEERING DESIGN PROCESS to create an amazing crayon holder. Maybe one of our Chesak Cheetahs will be the next young inventor! @d158@ChesakCheetahs#huntley158explore
It was all about SOUND this week for our 1st graders at Chesak! The students learned the science behind how sound travels and also enjoyed guessing some mystery sounds:) @d158@ChesakCheetahs#huntley158explore
Chesak kindergarteners learned where many ORGANS are located INSIDE their bodies! Then they drew their own IDENTITY on the OUTSIDE of their bodies:) @d158@ChesakCheetahs#huntley158explore
Had a blast doing some live teaching on Zoom today! Modeled an experiment to make โfireworks in a jarโ with a first grade class! Maybe now they will try it at home:) @ChesakCheetahs#explore158#ilstepsup#d158
