❗️Text swap❗️We have a whole year group set of Noughts and Crosses (we taught this with Y9) in fab condition. We are wanting to swap for an American literature novel (not Of Mice and Men) that is contemporary. Happy to also share resources! @Team_English1 please could you share?
@Nflynn_gbm Sending prayers and strength to you all. Your tweet came up on my timeline and my heart breaks for you all❤️ please let us at school know if there’s anything we can do x
Such a fantastic listen. Listened to this yesterday whilst walking the dog and haven’t stopped thinking about it and what I can do to make the texts I teach more inclusive. @7Stories
When I was growing up I LOVED reading, but I rarely saw myself reflected in the books I read. Which is why I’m SO excited to share the first episode of ‘Whose Stories?’ a podcast made in collaboration with @7Stories and @UniofNewcastle ! https://t.co/FRzZPvcJPF 📚✨
Has anybody got any suggestions for a form time reading book for Y7? Preferably a modern, challenging text which will grip them straight away as they will only be reading this for 20mins 3 days a week. @Team_English1
@MrAlexRiley@Team_English1 We are given free reign to choose a Shakespeare play that we want to teach Y9- as long as it’s not a tragedy to ensure they are exposed to more than just that genre. I teach The Merchant of Venice 🎭
Has anybody got any transition ideas to interact with primaries and Y6 pupils who cannot come into secondary school as part of ‘moving up’ day? We’ve done a video tour of the school and a Q&A, just looking at what other schools do👍🏼 #edutwitter#TransitionEd#transition#edtech
Due to the importance of this topic, we've brought this magazine feature in front of our paywall – the risk of teacher burnout has increased amid all the extra pressures of the pandemic

@Ms_McK_says Split Lang paper 1 into two booklets (Q1-3 & Q5). Split Lit poetry into two (anthology & unseen).Staff mark one booklet of Lang and one of lit. Students only wrote candidate no. on the paper and their class teacher’s name. Papers distributed amongst staff but not to their teacher
@fmccarron1 Yourself and Mrs Welch played a huge part in my journey to becoming an English teacher and Head of Year 11 at a school in Manchester. More than you will ever know- thank you🤝
