Her family stands to gain in the civil law suit and most of them are mandatory reporters… it’s been interesting to see them walk a tight rope. If they over sell her insanity they are liable for not reporting but if they don’t sell it enough their son/ daughter does not get the money and or goes to prison for a long time.

It’s an impossible task and burden on the CW to prove beyond reasonable doubt that she was not in psychosis when she strangled her. 3 kids. Sets a terrible precedent going forward. Anyone on an antidepressant or antipsychotic ( more than half the country) could commit a crime tomorrow and claim insanity in MA based on the experts opinions… the main talking point is BECAUSE she strangled her 3 kids proves she was in psychosis even though all evidence shows she was capable of knowing right from wrong the very hour the incident occurred .

Um the defense tried to lie a few times stating she had low thyroid and was corrected by the witness each time…among other things like misconstruing the description of a 3mm deep cut as a deep wound and not a term referring to direction…but please be angry over the mistreatment of a woman who strangled her 3 kids and her family full of mandatory reporters who must defend her for legal reasons and with pending civil suit

I’ll concede that using religion to attack credibility is not admissible…LCs family, however, should not be handled with kids gloves. While they suffered a great loss, most of them are mandatory reporters and are liable. Their family also stands to gain from the civil lawsuit. It’s been interesting to see them walk a tight rope trying to convey LCs struggle and ultimate “psychosis” while also not incriminating themselves for failure to report.

@Valhallagrrl @Bederowlaw @LawyerYouKnow So is it okay for the defense to refer multiple times to the clients “low thyroid” prompting correction by the witness that she in fact had a normal level? Asking for completion sake that prosecution can’t offend a witness but the defense can lie?

The two cases are vastly different. One had 2 suicide attempts and psych hospitalizations with documented hallucinations and psychosis while the other had depression and then stated she heard voices after the fact…essentially anyone on an antidepressant now can say well my switch flipped and I just went insane for a few minutes. THAT is insane.
