“Make the largest six digit number (no digit repeats!) with a 1 in the hundreds place.” Deep thinking and connections this morning as these 4th graders played M3’s Make It, Say It and reflected on their strategies. @MathematicsFcps@McNairUpperES

We had a wonderful time practicing our visualization skills with @MrsJTweets2020 today! What do you see in your mind when you read “watermelons falling out of a yellow van in a flood”!
Mrs. Gillions & Mrs. Teague’s 4th gr classes held their 1st Socratic Seminars today! These Ss engaged in Seminar in 3rd grade, so they picked right up with using quality talk & active listening to create authentic, student-led discussion around the book Tuesday. @McNairUpperES
Fun morning with Miss Hosty’s Mustangs! They practiced CCT Visualization and drew detailed pictures of an animal that matched a poem. Students “saw” cats, wolves, skunks, dogs and more! @McNairUpperES@fcpsaap
4th graders sorting out the “big ideas” and writing agreements that emerged from their brainstorm about creating a culture of growth mindset. Never underestimate the depth of what kids can do to support each other. This thoughtful group was SO inspiring. @McNairUpperES@fcpsaap
Our 3rd & 5th grade Young Scholars kicked off their work as Collaborators today! They learned about the hub, motors & sensors & even had some time for free building. Mrs. Michaels & I can’t wait to see what they accomplish this year! @McNairUpperES@fcpsaap@LEGO_Education
Had the best time investigating Dan’s Maneki Neko Bank problem with @mrsadkissonfcps class today! The strategies these 3rd graders used to combine 5 groups of 47 cents blew me away. There were too many to chart! @McNairUpperES
