I have always wanted to try a digital scoot, and today I got the chance. This was a very engaging way for third graders to learn more about nonfiction text features and was a definite win! #lufkinlearns#limitlesspossibilities#costoncougars
@TaraMartinEDU Q6: #tlap This has happened before. We did shadow puppet stories with flashlights, shadow tracing and character analysis with the shadow tracings. We put names on each shadow and students got to write (nice) character traits about each person on them.
@burgessdave@PaulSolarz A3: #tlap Write a story telling how the teacher is spending their day. Leave room an illustration. I used to do this all the time and I LOVED reading the responses. So fun. Creativity and art go a long way.
@TaraMartinEDU Q2: #tlap I would begin to tell a story and stop a few words in. Each student would be numbered and responsible for illustrating what would happen in that part of the story if it were to continue. Student 2 shares, 3 draws and shares etc.
@burgessdave I would start with a game of charades using vocabulary words, then would group students with responsibilities of teaching a lesson over one area, skill etc. Could also use one of those fake text message apps to send messages to students. It could actually be fun.
One of our amazing science teachers has created a @DonorsChoose to fund a Jelly Fish tank. Such a cool project! Please give if you can. #LufkinLearns https://t.co/wWG5l44cNP
Today, 4th graders used @MindMup to create main idea webs from a non-fiction passage about the history of a toothbrush. I was impressed at how well they did. Coston Cougars ROCK! #costoncougars#lufkinlearns#lufkinisd
5th graders began a digital breakout today in the library. Today, they sorted book titles by their author's purpose and ended up with a 3 digit code. Next week, they will get another code with a figurative language lesson. This was fun!
When you get this message from the teacher whose class you pull an intervention group from..now that's a win! We have been doing a novel study over The BFG and apparently this student really likes it. #teacherwin#costoncougars#LufkinLearns
What other profession has you selling books in the book fair in the morning, listening to student council speeches in the afternoon, and this sillyness before going to professional development? Never a dull moment, and I wouldn't want it any other way. #costoncougars
Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun was a success. The consensus was that it wasn't too bad. Some even asked for seconds. This was also a good opportunity to work on figurative language. #LufkinLearns#costoncougars#rockyourschool
My intervention group is reading The BFG. Today, we were introduced to "The Bloodbottler Giant." I read this description of the giant aloud without showing them a picture, and let their visualizations come to life. #costoncougars#lufkinlearns
Thank you, @dramandasmith, for my Little Fit. I have him hung by my desk to remind me that there is always someone close by to ask for help if I need it. #lpnolimits#costoncougars
