As a librarian, English teacher, and avid reader I believe that literature has the power to change people. That's why it's important that we immerse ourselves in diverse stories and help young people do the same. Seeing from a character's POV who is different from me is powerful.
My motto? Friendships formed prevents harm. An icon rhymed it better: “Learn 2 C me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers” (Tupac).

Hey teachers, this is a great point. We've been out of school 1 week and our priority right now really doesn't need to be content & instruction. Let's all take a deep breath and slow down so that we don't overwhelm our kids & parents.
Knowing how to teach online is not a natural skill. THANK YOU for trying. STOP trying to pick up where you left off and trying to move forward. Unless you've been heavily blended already, just start with logging in and saying hi. Relax. We are in this together.
