Passionate about PE, School Sport and PA @sportimpactuk All children should develop a positive connection to movement for life. Sharing ideas, always learning.
There is a lot of focus on changing ‘what’ we teach girls in PE... what about a focus on ‘How’ we teach them. We don’t always remember what we did in a lesson but we remember how we were made to feel https://t.co/RwPqf1frlW
@ThePEUmbrella@Lee_Sullivan85 The conversation around primary teachers being best placed to teach PE, especially teachers who might have had negative experiences growing up. I often find they teach PE with such care, kindness and creativity. I learn most working with these teachers.
@Lee_Sullivan85 A primary teacher vented to me today -the recent requirement for over complicated summative assessment data across all foundation subjects to be recorded and shared with SLT. Adding to massive workload and doing a disservice to the uniqueness of these precious subjects.
@Lee_Sullivan85@PEScholar@WannaTeachPE@WillSwaithes@LizDurdenMyers @MrCampbell_PE @leading_in_Ed @PhilMathe79_PE I did watch the course and found it really useful in realising how much assessment is already happening.. but I still think downloadable templates alongside simple generic guidance would help time poor subject leaders.
@IAnsonC@LPESSN@afPE_PE But mostly stick to your guts about your provision and don’t be swayed by a few loud voices… there’s a temptation to keep a few happy at the expensive of the quiet majority #harmfreePE
@IAnsonC@LPESSN@afPE_PE What about a sports day festival that culminates in optional competitive races? That way you don’t have to organise two events..I’ve seen this format work really well in primary settings… just don’t do a parents race at the end 🫣 🚑 🚑
My first ever football tournament. Turns out football is bloody hard.. I have no left foot. We lost 5 games and drew 1. We loved every minute and the 11 year old girl in me that never got to play was buzzing ⚽️ #bushyparkladies
@LloydAmber@BrentfordFCCST Amber I first met you at Crane Park where you inspired loads of young children everyday. You’ve always worked hard and walked the talk. Thank you also for the opportunity you’ve given my daughter at Brentford You should feel so proud x
Pop up pool @bedfontprimary allowing all children in years 3-6 to access swimming 🏊🏻♀️ visits welcome from local interested schools. The pool is going to be there for the next 4 weeks!!
@SRoadleySEND_PE I found secondary school became a lot about friendships for the girls. We once organised a PE trip to Nandos. It meant the girls could hangout with friends they had made through sport. We gave out some awards. We tried to build a sense of community, friendship and belonging.
My children both attend/attended a primary school graded by ofsted (twice) as ‘requires improvement’ they both thrive/ed at this school. I couldn’t fault the education, sense of community and nurture they receive there. Ofsted gradings are a snap shot and not the reality.
