I've been writing about experienced teacher retention for five years +
I wrote a book about it in 2020 'Preserving Positivity' & am now writing a book with @Sam_LGibbs 'Love the One You're With.' Every teacher I interview talks about psychological safety and belonging. A π§΅:
@ms_williams100 Thank you. Yes, I've seen the MA but not sure if people have done this alongside teaching. Maybe a tough mission to do both with the demands of both π
Art teachers - has anyone ever looked into training to become an art therapist and can let me know routes into this? Has anyone completed this alongside their full time job? Any suggestions, hints or help greatly appreciated. π€
Here is a small snippet of GCSE art work from our Year 11 class of 2024. They produced some very strong work and achieved fantastic results from their outcomes.
@RogersHistory@missdcox Hi Tom
Unfortunately I am unable to make it tonight but happy to chat through what we do in the new academic year if that helps. Hope it all goes well!
@jenbean90 Tim keeps telling me to fully embrace the capsule wardrobe! I would absolutely love to do this to eliminate the hassle of trying to find stuff to wear but then I keep getting tempted by stuff in the sales!
Another busy year in the art department π¨β€οΈποΈπ· This is just a snippet of the many amazing creations produced this year. Ready for a new sixth form and A Level Fine Art and Photography to launch in 2024/25. We're gonna need a bigger hall @HenleyBankHigh
Thank you to all those who attended our 2nd Annual Summer Art and Music Festival last night. It was a great celebration of the musical and visual talents of our students. #HBHSCreativity
@FionaLeadbeater 2/2 but only create step by step guides for a new technique or new introducing new skills as I don't want to create a room full of identical copies when it's more output from them. Using it at appropriate times is critical. Also changing scale and choice of materials to suit.
@FionaLeadbeater LOTS of demos either on visualiser or gathered around, visuals, exemplars and step by step guides. Questioning whilst discussing. Mini white boards to check understanding, sentence starters for turn and talks. I create lots of step by steps for processes (like attached) 1/2
A super talk for our @HenleyBankHigh y9s today from @sarahgraham_art Our students were left inspired and in awe of her talent! A genuine pinch me moment as I've loved Sarah's work for years β€οΈ ππ¨ποΈ I want to go back to art school!!
We were excited to welcome artist Sarah Graham to do a live talk with Year 9 students to link with their art topic on mental health and working within the creative industries. She talked about her journey in her career and her recent project for the Samaritans.
@art_teacher_mcr Unfortunately not, we don't use acrylic until the start of y10 (some y9 begin to experiment with acrylic in the summer term - usually those opting at GCSE). KS3 use watercolour, block paints and poster paints. Too expensive otherwise.
@art_teacher_mcr We have switched to Seawhites X4. I used YPO acrylic for years but recently it's very poor quality. This is so much better. More expensive but we use far less as it's much thicker. https://t.co/W49mR4aQyT
