@whataburger what flavor would you say this shake is!?! The store I just left tried to tell me it was the chocolate shake I ordered!! Pretty sure it's vanilla!! Kid even took it back in and came right back saying it is chocolate. #RetrainStaff#FixIt
All the gorgeous books I shared with my 5th graders this past school year. Thanks to all the authors and illustrators for creating them. We had so many wonderful moments while enjoying the stories and meeting the characters.

@MrSchuReads Thanks John. We knew it could be a possibility while we were at conference, but we didn't see our title on the proposed list of cuts. It's quite a blow.
What started as a gif about what librarians do for students, has turned into the realization that 40+ of my colleagues/friends, possibly even myself, will no longer be able to do the job we love as a school librarian.
VOTE for people who SUPPORT LITERACY, LIBRARIANS, and the FREEDOM TO READ. VOTE so that your children's children don't have to go through this as well.
My school district has been FORCED to make the decision to cut positions across the district because the state REFUSES to increase funding, even though they have told us there is a surplus of funds specifically for education, because they aren't able to get vouchers passed.
Know that no matter what, we will not be ok. How can we be excited about a new position when our colleagues didn't get the same offer? Reach out to them with encouraging notes, hugs, etc.
How can you REALLY support us?! VOTE!!! VOTE for those who SUPPORT PUBLIC EDUCATION!!
4. Figure out if I can really retire. I know I have the years, but can we financially afford to do that? Then what would I do next?! I'm only 55 years old. Can't sit on the couch the rest of my life...boring.
Hopefully librarians will know their actual fate early next week.
There's this state mandated thing called Reading Academy that I would have to also complete during my 1st year back.
3. Absorb an open position on my current campus. Same scary issues, but at least I will still get to see all of my kids!!
I haven't been in a classroom for 15 years and never in CyFair. My endorsement is in Early Childhood Education...I'm not sure my body is equipped to start chasing after 4-6 year olds again.
I would be responsible to at least 2 schools that the district designates. (which may not be at my current location or close to home)
2. I go on the excess list and any school across our district could pick me up based on my certification. This is scary on several levels...
I'm that smile they see in the morning, the person who gives a hug, or a pep talk whenever they need it.
Here's what my future could hold...
1. I hopefully have done enough to receive a position as a district librarian.
How do I tell the kids in this picture that I potentially won't see them ever again? It's so much more than being a librarian... I am their baseball coach, their morning announcement leader, their Name That Book sponsor, their cheerleader.
There hasnt been an increase since 2019. And now look where we are...118K students in my district alone will no longer have a full time librarian on their campus. Librarians understand we are a small piece of the pie, but it is our WHOLE WORLD!
