Our ELA standard this week is RL.3. We’ll describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text.
Our ELA skill of next week is RL.1. We’ll refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
Our first Scholastic book order went home last week. If you’re interested in ordering please return the flyer and payment or order online using code HQMNR by 9/27!
We have started our first unit on numbers and operations. This week our focus is NBT.1. We’ll recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right.
Well continue to focus on RL.2 this week. We continue to review how to summarize fiction. We’ve been using this great strategy and the kids have been doing amazing with it!
This week we’ll start our first writing unit! We’ll focus on the skill W.4. We’ll write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.
Homework will begin being sent home on Tuesday, September 3rd. Each night an ELA page, a math page, and a reading log will be assigned. Check your student’s agenda for what’s due!
