@WMSSDOW Human Services class is kicking off the semester with a bang! Today we heard from a social worker who helps place kids in adoptive homes through her job with Foster Adopt Connect. Can't wait to hear from more social service pros over the next few weeks! #engageSDOW
Round 2 of Services Projects from the WMS Human Services Class. This group chose to create care packages to be distributed at a local dinner for the homeless. Bags include water bottles, granola bars, gloves, socks, etc. These kids blow me away! #EngageSDOW@WMSSDOW
In my Human Services class, students are working in groups to plan a service project for someone in our community. This group planned a collection of baby items to be donated to the Pregnancy Assistance Center - I am so proud of their leadership & hearts for service! #EngageSDOW
Huge thanks to former State Representative Aaron Griesheimer for teaching my Human Services class at @WMSSDOW about being a legislator! Students got to hear about the election process, a "day in the life" in the General Assembly, and what being a public servant means. #EngageSDOW
Huge thanks to John Nilges for speaking to my Human Services class at @WMSSDOW about his role as Public Works Director & City Engineer for Washington, MO. Fascinating all of the work that goes into caring for citizens from an engineering viewpoint! #EngageSDOW
Always a treat when I get to collaborate with @WMSreads on a project. Students are creating a personality quiz determining which region of Africa you would most like to visit based on common interests. Lots of research, critical thinking, and application! #EngageSDOW@WMSSDOW
Learning about the Forms of Government at @WMSSDOW - after jotting down the definitions, students model what that gov't would look like (and get a tasty treat at the end 😉) So fun to watch them get energized and excited to share their models/reasoning. #EngageSDOW
The Human Services class is about connecting kids to careers that serve others. U1 is Social Services - Lindsey Jasper taught us about School Social Work. Pastor Craig told us about the local dinner for the homeless. Excited for more awesome speakers this week! #EngageSDOW
World Geography students @WMSSDOW not only learning about Absolute & Relative Location, but are now using what they know to find the Absolute & Relative Locations of some of Washington's favorite places! #EngageSDOW
@WMSSDOW@SDofWashington Students have been working hard all quarter learning about countries in Asia. It is SO cool to see their final, creative projects as they present them to their peers! Board games, children’s books, podcasts, and more! #bluejayway
World Geography at @WMSSDOW is off to a great start! Today is all about locating & labeling different African countries and geographic regions! #simplysocialstudies#teach#geography
This year WILL be hard. But we only get better by doing hard things. We always push & challenge our students in order to help them grow...this year it’s our turn for some growing pains as well!
So excited to be joining the team at @WMSSDOW this fall! Not only is this an incredible opportunity at a wonderful school, but as an alumnus I am “coming home!” Proud to be a Blue Jay once again! 💙
@SDofWashington
