Watching the #DemDebate and bummed that @JulianCastro isn't there. Regardless of whose policies you support, Castro is a much needed voice in this race! He's also a @TafollaToros alum and makes my students so proud. As one student loves to tell me, #VivaLaJulian!
Today the Honorable Judge Monique Diaz @JudgeDiazTX came & spoke to my students about her work as a lawyer & a judge! She says that education has the power to change your life & that speaking Spanish is a cool & valuable skill! My many bilingual students felt pride. Thanks!
On this Veterans Day, & every day, we’re grateful for the service & sacrifice of the men & women of the U.S. Armed Forces. Know that your commitment to our country and to freedom is remembered and valued. We thank you for your service. 🇺🇸#VeteransDay#veteransday2019
@lgomez123 spent the afternoon talking with today’s @TafollaToros about his time at Tafolla & addressing the fear & anxiety that many middle schoolers experience by sharing experts from his latest book #TafollaToro 3 years of fear.
Thrilled to meet @lgomez123 again today and get a signed copy of #TafollaToro but even better was seeing my students listen to his wisdom and stories - especially about the stories we tell ourselves and let others tell us. It was powerful stuff and I know they were into it!
As #DayoftheDead approaches altares & ofrendas are set up in the lobby to remember & honor the memories of staff & students departed loved ones #diadelosmuertos
Yesterday our word was INFLUENCE. We talked about how influence can be good or bad, and we made the connection to Instagram "influencers." Then we tied it to the fight for influence in the Constitution - large vs small states and slave vs free states! #TafollaSS
I teach because, in my own small way, I can impact the future of young people in a positive way. I strive to help them grow to be critical thinkers and readers after their time in my class. @TafollaToros
