It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sir Ken Robinson died peacefully yesterday, 21st August 2020, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.

We will be following up with a further update as we begin to follow Sir Ken’s wishes and honour his legacy.

With some schools opening in person and some schools opening online, I hope standardized tests will also be exempt for this school year along with state teacher evals. This would allow more flexibility for creativity & innovation by teachers and students.

Do you wonder if teachers/ principals are left out of the big picture ed conversation because if the public found out they are the real experts, people would realize politicians, boards, & some district positions aren't that important or even necessary in educational decisions.

Teachers, remember you are not in competition with each other, but you're on the same team. And admin shouldn’t be the only ones to encourage, support, & inspire. Motivate each other! Build each other up, including staff and your administrators.

Schools are influenced more by it's informal culture than by their mission statement, policies & procedures. Having strong, supportive, positive relationships, a unified vision, and team mentality is what makes a school great, not the statement hanging in the hallway.

Georgia is suspending standardized testing for the upcoming school year & formal teacher evals and are seeking to permanently cut certain tests. This will also save $10's of millions from the budget that can be used toward teacher pay, etc. Let's hope other states step up!

The Arts, PE, recess and play aren’t just important for students to grow emotionally, socially, & academically, but they may be the main reason that some students enjoy coming to school.

1/4 Thoughts I’ve had since the weekend…I’ve been seeing a lot of praise for educators and administrators throughout this past week, (and deservedly so! )But I haven’t seen as many accolades for our incredible students! They are learning true self-discipline, and independence.
