If you want to build a great company, permit your team to disagree with you and listen to their feedback because it’s not about you; it’s all about providing the best service and products that make a difference in the lives of the people you are entrusted to serve.
Like many others, my heart sank today for our kids, teachers, & staff, the first responders, and parents as a nightmare seemed to be unraveling. Tonight, we are thanking God it was a hoax while asking Him to turn this world around. #learnbps
It is my sincere hope that BPS board members are taking the time to talk to staff who have worked directly for the superintendent finalists and analyzing the data of how many educators have left education or transferred out of the buildings they’ve led. #learnbps
Me: Girls, guess what?! One of my students rang me up at Scheels tonight! Laila: Let me guess, it was one of your favorites. Brittyn: Yeah mom, you say that about all of them. (They were both right!)
Dress up days. A million themed dress up days at school. But the kids can’t wear costumes on Halloween. Please remember to reflect on family budgets, consistency, sensory issues, kids’ desire to fit in, and common sense while planning.
I also remember how I was told to be careful how I word things when I quoted what was said when I was told, “There is a crawl space, but I don’t feel like going up there.”
I’ll never forget that time (or smell) when there was a dead mouse rotting in my first grade classroom ceiling and I was basically told to shut up and that the smell would eventually go away. It did - after about a month and a half, if you’re curious.
“It’s so nice that I don’t feel depressed that it’s already June 22,” and other things I say to myself while I’m enjoying myself at work ... during the summer!
Teach your students to advocate for themselves. Encourage them to always speak out and speak up for themselves and others. Remind them of their rights to BE and to be in the know. They deserve to be fully aware of their power.
Ummm . . . Why did not one single person warn me that I’d be a complete basketcase watching my first batch of third graders graduate high school? 😭 #proudteacher
