I am amazingly proud of today’s kids! While my classroom feels different. And to me not nearly as fun and definitely harder....my kiddos don’t complain. They persevere, laugh together, ask questions, discuss tough topics! I am so incredibly lucky to be their teacher. #cvproud
So lucky to have had an amazing first week with 17 incredible fifth graders! We connected how squeezed out toothpaste is like mean words said in angry. @SPHBulldogs
5th grade teachers, what books do you use to discuss racism? Outside of those what books do you have in your library that have people of color as main characters or celebrate black culture? I want to do better.
Students buy into teachers who are genuine and honest.
Admitting you don't know an answer or allowing a student to correct your mistakes go a long way in building a connected classroom.
@RickerTori For science, social studies type topics I recommend Mystery Science. It’s free for the first school year. You need to create an account though.
