Another busy, fun filled Friday in the EP Base. Excellent reading, shape work, concentrating on copying patterns, and being creative with our Play-Doh tub. We also started using Colourful Semantics, introducing verbs as action words today @MissMelville_FC@carronshoreps
The Target Zone made our own cooked playdough this week which was a super cool activity that helped our measuring skills while also demonstrating the science behind heat changing the state of something. We'll never have a playdough shortage again! @carronshoreps@playisthewayFC
Mrs Nicholson popped a few new resources out in the area this week, including these really cool number blocks to help with bonds to 10, and a hairdressing station to help with 1/2s and 1/4s, which certainly seems like a hit so far! @carronshoreps@playisthewayFC
Last week, Sophie wanted to practise her writing by setting out her ideal rules for the Target Zone, and we all worked hard on the various durations that make up a year. We'll be using this information for some data handling and writing tasks soon too... @carronshoreps
Mrs Nicholson missed these smiles last Friday when we were off because of the wind warning ๐ฉ๐ฌ๏ธ
(It was still all go over here, baking gingerbread men and mixing up bath bombs with the littlest Nicholson) @MissMelville_FC@carronshoreps
The Target Zone have been developing dictionary skills, as well as using dictionaries as a tool to help identify whether words are nouns, verbs, or adjectives. We've also been doing simple plurals too ๐โค๏ธ @carronshoreps@FalkirkLiteracy
The Target Zone were checking their understanding of the < or > symbols. We enjoyed singing our song ๐ถ"The hungry alligator, eats the number that is greater..." ๐ถ to help us remember! ๐ @carronshoreps
In the EP, we were working on identifying cubes and discussing their properties, building bridges for balancing, and roleplaying hospitals and paramedics ๐ฅ๐๐ฅผ๐งโโ๏ธ @carronshoreps@MissMelville_FC
The Target Zone took inspiration from the poem "A Voodoo for Miss Maverick" to explore expressing feelings through poetry. In groups, we are composing our own poems. Watch this space for the finished articles from all our wonderful poets ๐ @carronshoreps@FalkirkLiteracy
Mrs Nicholson's first Friday back in the base included some numeracy, focusing on comparing and ordering (the boys are showing height order), then the afternoon saw us learn about artist Steven Brown and have a go at making our own McCoos ๐ฎ๐ @carronshoreps@MissMelville_FC
January in the Target Zone was busy, busy! We were getting used to a few timetable changes, including having Miss Gibson working here on Fridays now while Mrs Nicholson has her day in the EP Base.
January learning began with identifying and continuing patterns ๐ @carronshoreps
Finally, we all made our own twig stars by choosing thick or thin twigs, measuring and cutting them to be the same length, and focusing hard to get them tied together with pipe cleaners. What a great job everyone did! โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ #TwinkleToes@carronshoreps
Our 2nd #TwinkleToes challenge took us a while as there were lots of parts to it... First, we discussed some options and decided to make twig stars. Then we went out and collected a selection of twigs, which we brought back and sorted before leaving them to dry. @carronshoreps
The next day we learned all about measuring in centimetres to help us with our project. We also discussed what meta skills we were using and named them as Adapting, Collaborating, and Creativity. #TwinkleToes#MetaSkills@carronshoreps
Not only have the Target Zone decorated their door to help ward off #TwinkleToes and his stink bombs, Mrs N has had an "X"-mas miracle and finally tamed the gremlins inside her account and is able to post again! (Mega TZ photo bomb incoming soon!)
