@hughhewitt This district is of the mindset that if they retain too early, kids will age out in middle school. This we now have kids failing (often fighting as a result), and dropping out of middle school anyway. Such a broken system!

@hughhewitt Good luck with that in Manatee County, Florida. We are not able to retain until third grade. And by then, children have already learned poor reading habits that will affect them the rest of their life.
