The power of kindness. Understanding how it feels and what it looks like. Treat others how you expect to be treated. Here’s our kindness pot, how we have shared kindness and how others have shown it to us. Anti-bullying week 2023 @SummerswoodPS@JFolkesJonesSPS
Relating anger to firework/rocket. The match is the trigger, the fuse is our thoughts, feelings and body sensations, the explosion is our anger and the water is the cooling off and calming down process. A great model for children to relate to. @SummerswoodPS @MJonessps
Weighing, measuring and mixing are definitely one of the children’s favourite things to do. The smell of chocolate chip flapjacks smelt divine! @SummerswoodPS@SpsWheatcroft @MJonessps
Apple pie sensory tray 🍎🥧🍏
The children loved exploring and using their imagination to make an apple pie. They scooped, poured, measured and enjoyed the smell of the cinnamon sticks. @MJonessps @SpsWheatcroft@SummerswoodPS
What does curiosity mean to you? We read the book ‘The Heart and the Bottle’ and the children wondered and imagined who the little girl was missing. We discussed what it would be like to have no curiosity. @OliverJeffers@SummerswoodPS @MJonessps @SpsWheatcroft
Team work and passion can produce wonderful things. The children in Hive look forward to baking on a Friday. Here is their creation for the week, which smelt divine! @SummerswoodPS @MJonessps @SpsWheatcroft
Learning how to use repeated addition has supported the children to understand and identify multiples of a number. @SummerswoodPS @MJonessps @SpsWheatcroft
We discussed things that make us angry. The children were able to relate to others & identify similar experiences. We addressed that anger is a normal, healthy emotion that we all experience at times. It is important to stop, think and reflect. @SummerswoodPS @MJonessps

In art the children looked at a range of real and imaginary deep sea creatures. This week they decided to focus and sketch a dolphin. Their concentration and pencil skills were amazing! @MJonessps @SummerswoodPS
It is important to establish positive relationships with new pupils. We begin with an activity of the staff sharing their ‘getting to know you’ boxes; a fun way sharing a little bit about yourself. The children then make their own boxes to share. @MJonessps @SummerswoodPS
We have been extremely busy in Hive, making and decorating our classroom for Christmas. Can you guess what theme the children decided to go with? @SummerswoodPS @MJonessps @SpsWheatcroft
