This week we recognized Truth and Reconciliation within our classroom and as a school community. We reflected and honoured those who were impacted by residential schools and made a commitment to continue learning as a collective.
Thank you @freezedna for the great Terry Fox guided drawing. My students loved it and were so proud of their end products! What a great way to honour a Canadian hero.
Today Ms. Judy came back to our class to talk about relationships! We created a friendship machine, discovered and wondered about who was on our team, and learned about the W.I.F.L.E sticks (“What I Feel Like Expressing...”)
We went on a community walk and became historians of our community! Through the lens of a historian we were able to find examples of changes that have occurred over time and made a comparison between past and present.
Today the students were taught how to solve Math equations using an abacus. The best part was they were taught by a peer who was able to share his expertise and knowledge with the class. Loved seeing them explore and learn from one another ♥️
On Winter Walk Day we spent some time in our Outdoor Classroom with @Mrs_Holmgren and her wonderful group of Kinders. It was so much fun seeing the Kinders trees and sharing some of our discoveries and wonderings with them.
I got “I need a NEW BUTT!” by Dawn McMillan (inspired by @MrsGoruk’s video!) and it was a HUGE hit in class. After reading it aloud, students wanted to take turns reading it during D.E.A.R time 🥰📖
I love when students get excited about reading!
