@MrV_ITRT I was just looking that up! I think if technology or STEM teaches teach it too, kids will understand the importance of digital citizenship and how to be a good DC.
@MrV_ITRT Absolutely! Tech is moving at the speed of light. We must do our best to keep up to date to keep our kids safe and teach them to be critical thinkers. It’s also more engaging for their brain to handle since tech is what they’re used to.
Teachers should teach students that they can extend their knowledge through physical research without the constant use of technology. So, use tech as a jumping point but then find their own answers #mpcschat
A4: Digital literacy should be part of our curriculum now for many reasons. Students should be taught how to decipher between similar articles that don’t match, they need to be taught digital citizenship, their jobs will most likely depend on technology, etc.
A3 Digital equity is so important! Kids will start to feel inferior or give up if they don’t have the same digital capability. Counties can offer 1:1 computers, offer broadband to everyone, encourage kids to BYOD, offer personalized learning, and support teacher/parent training
A2 I support digital literacy in the classroom by first showing kids how I use safe online resources to find additional images and then I facilitate while they have their chance to use it #mpcschat
