Mrs Pugsley's Emporium Inc or Mrs P's as it is referred to - is a quilt shop located in the historic Clocktower in downtown Amherst, Nova Scotia.

The other day I mentioned HRFE's last remaining yellow fire truck, a 1995 spare Volvo. There is a Yosemite Same logo painted on the passengers side rear door, as shown in the attached photo (sorry I can't find a better photo). Anyway, I got to wondering where that came from. Thanks to some sources who chimed in, here's the background:

Waverley used to be a gold mining town. There were several mines here, and quite a lot of gold was extracted in the 1800s. So, in keeping with Waverley's heritage, the village "adopted" Yosemite Sam as its "mascot figure" (with some modifications to include the gold mining parts). Quite a few years ago, the village was made aware it was violating copyright laws for the character, so we altered it a little and renamed him Gold Rush Gus.

This unit served as Engine 41 (Waverley) from 1995 until around 2012 I believe, then was moved to the spare fleet, where it remains today.

To allow for the safe removal of the damaged truck, a controlled burn is taking place to eliminate the remaining propane on the trailer.

This is expected to take 2 to 3 hours.

Crews continue to work on a large outage in the Amherst area affecting a large number of customers. Seven poles were damaged by this weekend’s high wind and need to be replaced. They’re working as quickly as they can to safely restore power to our customers.
