Wonderful morning @cosydirect for the @DNEYHub Launch Event - it was great to hear what the hub has to offer and left feeling really inspired after listening to @AliceSharpLtd
Looking forward to facilitating the EYFS Network with my wonderful colleague Aimee.
The first network meeting is on the 2nd October - if you are local to Derby please take a look.
First CPD session of the year involved a great team discussion around this article - it was great to celebrate the things that we are already doing really well and agreed a few tweaks we could make based on the findings.
Helping children to develop their communication and language in #earlyyears has never been more important.
My new column for @tes considers 3 key findings from the latest @Ofstednews early years research review 🔽

Loving the children’s representations of sunflowers this week! I’ve had a great week getting to know the children who are going to be in my class in September.
REC have had a fantastic Go Wild Day to raise money and awareness of endangered animals. We have had a friendly protest where we made posters, gave speeches to our friends to persuade them to adopt an animal as well as writing and performing chants.
It’s alway worth asking the question - whilst in my local Co-op store I asked what they do with the flowers with yellow stickers on if no one buys them….I now have lots of bunches of flowers to share around some local EY settings for lots of flower related play!
I have loved the responses on here, Instagram and Facebook groups regarding my question about whether Paw Patrol toys belong in Early Years classrooms! The response that stood out to me the most and I feel is going to become something I use a lot was from @millies_garden -
…’We have to meet children in their culture’.
I have also just read a fantastic blog post by @joeb_EY which also talks about culture and sums up everything I have been feeling this week! Definitely recommend reading.
I would love to know peoples thoughts on whether character figures such as Paw Patrol have a place in the classroom?
I have always favoured wooden open ended toys e.g peg dolls but so many of my children starting next year love Paw Patrol.
