Timur's Mom and Spaulding assistant, Ms. Aliya came to teach us about Kazakhstan ahead of APIDA heritage month. She even brought traditional Kazak treats!π°πΏπ°πΏπ°πΏ
I ran into these former students in the Smokey Mountains, ten hours from Gurnee. Taylor is a 3rd grader at Prairie Trail and Ted is an 8th grader at Viking. Bonus picture of my family!
March Razzness was a blast! We practiced our UFLI words with a basketball craft, learned about how basketball was invented, and played "Trashketball" with three digit addition. Happy Spring Break!
Throwback to 2019-- a former parent sent me this picture of my once 2nd graders (now 8th graders!) I had many of these kiddos for both 1st and 2nd grade. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Thanks to our behavior facilitator/PBIS coach/ "Jackie" of all trades, @JackieBucher7 for always making things fun! (Even for the staff!) Stay tuned for the student Rock, Paper, Scissors reward! π€πβοΈ
We continued our monthly tradition of reading the Calendar Kids series on the first of each month today. March and April were gifted to our classroom by this sweet second grader! β€οΈπ
An amazing Black History Month celebration hosted by our middle school, Viking! Our class researched and wrote about Martin Luther King and Ruby Bridges.
Lots of work went into these Martin Luther King Jrs. We read lots of books and articles and watched videos to research facts. Then students wrote an informational paragraph with a topic sentence, details, and a conclusion.
Our favorite engagement tool! Each day after our @UFLiteracy lesson I choose a "UFLI Fanictic," the most engaged student, throughout the lesson. Students start an immediate drum roll at the last slide of the presentation.
