I’m very busy behind the scenes preparing to GO ALL IN for the National Year of Reading 2026 (not as busy as the BRILLIANT National Literacy Trust team!) and can’t wait to help (re)connect people of all ages with reading as a meaningful, modern, and social activity.

The ambition is that the National Year of Reading 2026 will make lasting change to the reading habits of the nation to reverse the decline in reading for pleasure and unlock one of the most powerful tools for equity and opportunity: a love of reading that lasts a lifetime ❤️✨📚

My 4 year old drew a picture of @SteveBackshall, which she carries around contantly. I last heard, "Come on Steve Backshall, watch me tidy." Looking forwards to her expression when we go to the Deadly 60 show tomorrow.

@CarlBovisNature My understanding of this was that you have capitals on the parts of the name which indicate the specific species eg. Black Headed gull. Gull is a generic name for a group of animals, but the Black Headed indicates a specific type of gull.
